Back in the early 1960s, Gianpiero Moretti an amateur racing driver asked a friend to make him a special steering wheel for his racing car, although smaller than normal it had one original feature, a very large handgrip that offered a better hold making the car easier to handle and drive. In 1964 the Momo steering wheel was born (Moretti - Monza) being mounted onto the Ferrari of John Surtees who won the Formula 1 World championship.
